Delicious Homemade Milkshakes

If you are like me, before long you are going to love these Delicious Homemade Milkshakes. Have you ever been to a dessert takeaway, or a Milkshake and Ice Cream shop on the High Street, and thought to yourself “Wow this is tasty! I wish I could have this all the time!”?

Well, we certainly have — and you can trust me when I tell you that there are few treats that go down better than these on a warm summer evening, watching the sun set or a Lord of the Rings Marathon, or just because you fancied something nice!

So without any further ado, let’s get right into what you need and how you make these Delicious Homemade Milkshakes.

Equipment

You really do not need much for these — honestly, you just need one thing to make this easy.

  • A decent blender!

I could get silly and list eeeeverything, like a spoon to scoop your ice cream with, and a mug/glass of your preferred size, but honestly that should kind of go without saying — though you could drink directly from the blender I guess!

Ingredients

THIS is where things get interesting! The base necessities list is, again, very, very short, but your choices of FLAVOURING are where the magic happens!

Firstly you need;

  • Ice Cream of choice (this is usually vanilla, and you can go as cheap or fancy as you like! We enjoy a good pure Scottish ice cream ourselves.)
  • Milk of choice (again, this is up to you! We take whole milk, cheap or fancy as you like, but match this to your dietary preferences/needs!)

PLEASE NOTE — I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS WITH ALMOND OR OAT OR OTHER NON DAIRY MILKS OR ICE CREAMS.

Now you get to choose your flavourings, and I have a few suggestions to get you started! Remember, go as crazy as you like, if you think it will be tasty then you can go for it! Even if that is pineapple pizza added to your blender — I will judge you from a distance, but, you do you;

  • Raspberry Syrup/Flavouring and Oreo Biscuit
  • Biscoff and more Biscoff with extra Biscoff
  • Kinder Bueno & White Kinder Bueno (Personal Favourite)
  • Mint Aero & Ripple (Also a particularly Delicious Homemade Milkshake)
  • WHATEVER YOU WANT TO TRY

Method

Okay, now it’s all been super easy up to now, which is great, but now we have to actually make it. So please… be prepared for what comes next.

Step 1

Set up your Blender. Grab your Milk. Grab your Ice Cream. Grab your Flavourings.

Step 2

Add your Milk and Ice Cream to the Blender — now actually, here we get a bit of measurement. You kind of need to adjust until you are happy with the consistency for your personal preference.

We estimate 2-3 scoops of Ice Cream to 300ml of Milk, but do add and subtract until you find your perfect sweet spot!! All of us here at Showing You the Whey like it slightly different! Blend until all one consistency.

Step 3

Add your flavouring — the more you put in, the stronger it gets. When using chocolate bars you need to use a good chunk, but not an obscene amount, especially with stronger flavours.

For example, in a multipack of Kinder Bueno, use one double-stick serving per flavour you want, i.e. Two Sticks Kinder Bueno, Two Sticks White Kinder Bueno = the above suggestion, but you can add more or less, especially depending on your milkshake serving size!!

If you are making one massive milkshake, you will need more flavouring, but a smaller glass or mug will need less.

Step 4

That’s it! That’s all the steps! You now have a Delicious Homemade Milkshake! Well, you could include serving it up and making it pretty, but that’s entirely up to you! YOU’RE DONE!

Now enjoy your new skill, show it off to your partner, crush, family, friends, and keep coming up with amazing new flavours!

  1. I’ve been experimenting with adding protein supplements to milkshakes and smoothies over the past year, I have honestly never thought to add ice-cream. I’ve used frozen fruit, frozen banana, ice, but never ice-cream. I feel like this is a real facepalm moment.
    Can’t wait to give your recipe a try!
